mittwoch musik // 12

It’s been a while since I posted one of these. I haven’t been listening to as much music these days as I’ve been pretty focused on writing. Once I get into the production stage again is when I’ll be listening more, for sure.

However, I do want to share some little gems that I’ve really been into these past few months.

Firstly, I want to share Little Scream. She opened for Sharon Van Etten a couple of years ago at the Satellite. I’ve been completely transfixed by the opening track on her album, “The Lamb” and am in love with the video.  Also, love love love the track, "The Heron and The Fox".

Secondly, I’m rather enjoying Daniel Rossen's new EP, Silent Hour/Golden Mile. I’m a huge fan of his project, Department of Eagles and his songwriting and production overall. The arrangements and instrumentation are really lovely. Plus, I don’t think I’ve ever heard another voice quite like his. Yes, I am a huge fan.

Thirdly, dear Nick Mancini shared this next track with me. I’ve been told for years to listen to Joni Mitchell. Don’t ask why I have never really heard any Joni barring “Big Yellow Taxi”. Nick’s a huge fan of Joni and told me about this Herbie Hancock tribute album to Joni called River: The Joni Letters. We pulled up “Edith And The Kingpin”, sung by her most excellent Tina Turner, on Spotify. I immediately was bewitched. Tina can do no wrong musically. That is fact.

And so naturally, I started to investigate more Joni. I’ve yet to make it to Blue…..soon. I’m currently quite obsessed with The Hissing Of Summer Lawns

Ok, fourthly (?), House Of Waters. I saw them play at The Elastic Hour, a weekly concert series curated by Nick Mancini and hosted at The Curve Line Space art gallery in Eagle Rock every Thursday. New season starts back up in July).

Just watch the video. No explanation is needed.
